Europcar adds more diesel in Oz

As part of Europcar Australia's environmental push, the car rental company is now adding more diesel vehicles to its fleet. Over the next few weeks the company will take delivery of a total of 500 Volkswagen Jetta Diesel 2.0 TDIs and Skoda Octavia Ambiente sedans.

Hertz to cut over 4,000 jobs

Hertz is to cut more than 4,000 jobs in a worldwide restructuring as it makes further cost savings amid slackening demand.The car rental giant has already cut its workforce by 22% in the last two years. The new losses takes the figure to 32% since August 2006.

The company was certified by DEKRA Certification which at the same time confirmed the launch of an inte-grated quality and environmental management system at Sixt rent a car. Sixt AG, Germany's leading car rental company and international provider of high quality mobility services, is offering its customers especially attractive rates with the slogan “QuickCheck-in = Upgrade included!” Customers using the new, convenient QuickCheck-in terminal to rent a vehicle will automatically receive a free upgrade to the next highest vehicle class. The QuickCheck-in terminals will gradually replace the CarExpress machines.

Avis Europe to cut over 300 jobs

Avis Europe is cutting 315 jobs as it battens down the hatches for tougher time ahead.The car rental giant, which has outlets across Europe and the Middle East, said that volumes have noticeably weakened in the fourth quarter. Chief executive, Pascal Bazin, warned of "continued difficult conditions" in 2009 and beyond.

Avis and Travelport launch eVouchers

Europcar goes from strength to strength

Europcar has posted a healthy set of interim results with annual revenue up by more than 17 per cent, buoyed by the car rental company's acquisition of the Europcar Asia Pacific franchise in May 2008.Revenues for the first six months of 2008 were €987.9 million, a 17.4 per cent increase based on the comparable period.

Avis Budget Group today announced that Avis Rent A Car and Budget Rent A Car will team up with Coby Electronics to begin offering portable DVD players for rent at locations throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The service, called Flicks-To-GoTM, features Coby Electronics' TF-DVD 7050 portable DVD player that can be easily attached to the back of a car's headrest.
